Preserving the Past, Engineering the Future
Expert Consultancy in Traditional Windmill Restoration and Innovation
ABOUT US
We provide expert consultancy and project management for the restoration and innovation of traditional mills
We are a specialist consultancy supporting the preservation and renewal of traditional wind and water mills
We offer consultancy on the repair, renovation, and maintenance of historic mills — including detailed assessments and recommendations related to sails, mill caps, curbs, fantails, brake wheels, wallowers, shutters, and more
Our services include on-site evaluations, project management and strategic planning, tailored to the unique needs of local councils, heritage organisations, and private mill owners
We provide professional advice on regular mill servicing, recladding, weatherproofing, window replacements, and repainting of sails, caps, and towers — ensuring that each project respects the historical integrity while meeting modern standards
Electrical Generation
We have designed a special automatic gearbox and a speed sensor that detects the revolutions of the
windshaft, specifically for traditional windmills. This technology will allow a slow-moving high torque drive from a traditional windmill to operate efficiently at variable speeds, we are making it possible for old windmills to generate renewable energy that can be used directly by local homes and
sold to be used on the grid.
We are currently installing generating equipment into a traditional windmill (The Smoke Tower Mill) to allow the mill to work off grid in conjunction with solar panels to cover the days without wind
